Ultimate Vampire Showdown: Winner

Sheffield Gothic is thrilled to be able to announce your Ultimate Vampire Champion of our Vampire Showdown of 2020! Beginning on Monday 30 March 2020 with 32 vampire contestants, this week has seen them battle it out through the nail-biting Group Stages, Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and now the Final battle to determine who walks away with the coveted Championship crown. There has been a whole lot of sucking, and every battle has had so much at stake! If you want a recap on all of the twists and turns of the battles, you can check out our previous post from days one, two, three, four, and five.

Before we turn to the final results, we would like to thank everyone who took part in our Vampire Showdown. There have been hundreds of people who voted in each and every poll, and we are delighted that so many people have enjoyed the Vampire Championship! We hope it has been a bit of fun at a time when things are very dark, and thank to you to everyone for all of your votes, retweets, and comments.

Ultimate Vampire Champion:

Which finally brings us to the results of our Ultimate Vampire Showdown Final between Spike (Buffy) and Nadja (What We Do In The Shadows). The people have voted, the people have spoken, and with 67.8% of the vote (and with over 200 votes cast in the final battle!) the people have crowned Spike the Ultimate Vampire Champion.

“That’s right! I’m back, and I’m a bloody animal! Yeah!”

Spike

Congratulations to our new Vampire Champion and the last vamp left standing! Congratulations also to Nadja for her well-earned second place finish!

We can also reveal the results of our Runner Up Battle between Selene (Underworld) and Eric (True Blood), and after a very close battle you have chosen Eric as your runner up with 54.5% of the vote. Let’s not forget to congratulate Selene, and remember: Vampires are immortal so it is definitely not over!

Where do we go from here?

Well folks, that’s the end of our Vampire Showdown for now and we hope you’ve enjoyed the Championship. If you have any ideas of what you would like to see us do next, then get in touch and let us know! And if you are disappointed or disagree with the results of our Championship, and would like to write a blog post explaining why your favourite vampire should have won, or maybe you think your favourite vamp was unfairly excluded from the Championship in the first place, then we want your blogs! (And don’t worry – we only want your blog posts, not your blood or your life force, we promise!).

In the meantime, if you’re still looking to quench your thirst for vampires, or if you’re in search of some quarantine reads to sink your teeth into, do check out our blog for vampire content. We have a fangtastic post on Vampires in Romantic Literature, a mesmerising post on psychic vampires and Florence Marryat’s Blood of the Vampire, and don’t forget our celebrated Buffy blog series! Featuring twenty posts by fabulous Buffy scholars from around the world exploring all seasons of the cult show, our Buffy series also includes several posts discussing our Vampire Champion himself: Spike.

“I hate being obvious. All fangy and ‘grr!’ Takes the mystery out”

Spike
